TechGear INC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the PDF Converter application for iPhone and iPad. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use our app, including features that integrate with third-party cloud services such as Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive.
By using PDF Converter, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information:
- Files You Provide: When you use the app to convert, edit, merge, compress, or otherwise process PDF and other document files, those files are handled locally on your device or temporarily processed through our servers as needed to perform the requested operation.
- Cloud Service Credentials: If you choose to connect a third-party cloud service (Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive), we use OAuth-based authentication. We do not store your cloud service passwords. We receive and securely store access tokens required to read and write files on your behalf.
- Usage Data: We may collect anonymized analytics data such as app usage patterns, feature interactions, crash reports, and device type. This data does not personally identify you.
- Support Communications: If you contact us for support, we may collect your email address and any information you provide in your message.
2. Third-Party Cloud Services & Google User Data
Google API DisclosurePDF Converter allows you to import files from and export files to Google Drive, Dropbox, and OneDrive. When you connect any of these services:
- We request only the permissions (scopes) necessary to browse, read, and write files you explicitly select.
- For Google Drive, this includes access to file metadata and file content for files you choose to open or save within the app.
- We do not access, read, or modify any files you have not explicitly selected.
- OAuth tokens are stored securely on your device and are used solely to facilitate file operations you initiate.
3. How We Use Cloud Service Data
Google API DisclosureData obtained through Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive APIs is used exclusively to:
- Display your files and folders so you can select documents to import.
- Download selected files to your device for local processing (conversion, editing, merging, etc.).
- Upload converted or edited files back to your chosen cloud storage.
We do not use cloud service data for advertising, data mining, analytics, or any purpose unrelated to providing and improving the app's core file conversion and editing functionality.
4. Google API Services Limited Use Disclosure
Limited UsePDF Converter's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:
- We only use Google user data to provide and improve the app's PDF conversion and editing features.
- We do not transfer Google user data to third parties, except as necessary to provide or improve the app, comply with applicable laws, or as part of a merger/acquisition with user consent.
- We do not use Google user data for serving advertisements.
- We do not allow humans to read Google user data unless: (a) we have your explicit consent, (b) it is necessary for security purposes (e.g., investigating abuse), (c) it is required by law, or (d) it is aggregated and anonymized for internal operations.
5. How We Use Your Information (General)
Beyond cloud service data, we use collected information to:
- Provide and maintain the app's features and functionality.
- Improve app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features.
- Respond to user support requests.
- Understand how users interact with the app (via anonymized analytics).
6. Sharing, Transfer, and Disclosure of Information
Google API DisclosureWe do not sell or rent your personal information or cloud service data to third parties. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service Providers: We may use trusted third-party services (e.g., analytics providers, crash reporting tools) that process data on our behalf under strict confidentiality obligations.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request.
- Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred, subject to this Privacy Policy.
Google user data is never shared with third parties except as described in Section 4 above.
7. Your Choices & Data Control
- Disconnect Cloud Services: You can disconnect Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive at any time from the app's settings. This revokes the app's access to your cloud files.
- Revoke Google Access: You can also revoke PDF Converter's access to your Google account at any time via your Google Account Permissions page.
- Delete Local Data: You can clear all locally stored data (including cached files and tokens) by deleting the app from your device.
- Request Data Deletion: To request deletion of any data we may hold, contact us at appledev650@gmail.com.
8. Data Storage, Retention, and Deletion
Google API Disclosure- Files processed by the app are handled locally on your device or temporarily on our servers during processing. Temporary server files are automatically deleted after processing is complete.
- OAuth tokens for cloud services are stored securely on your device and are deleted when you disconnect the service or uninstall the app.
- We do not retain copies of your Google Drive files, Dropbox files, or OneDrive files on our servers after your requested file operation is complete.
- Anonymized analytics data may be retained for up to 24 months to help improve the app.
9. Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted storage of OAuth tokens, secure HTTPS communication, and adherence to platform-specific security guidelines. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Support & Analytics
- Analytics: We use anonymized analytics tools (such as Firebase Analytics) to understand app usage patterns. These tools do not collect personally identifiable information.
- Crash Reporting: We may use crash reporting services to identify and fix technical issues. Crash reports may include device type, OS version, and app state at the time of the crash, but do not include your files or personal data.
- Support: When you contact us for support, any information you provide is used solely to resolve your issue and is not shared with third parties.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted within the app and/or on our website. Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
